What Is the Barrière Poker Tour?

The Barrière Poker Tour is a live tournament circuit that moves between the casinos of the Barrière group across France. Instead of one single tournament, each stop is a four-to-seven-day festival with a mix of events:

•           a Main Event, the headline tournament with multiple starting days,

•           higher buy-in events such as the Masters 8-Max,

•           smaller side events such as the BPT Cup and Little BPT,

•           Mystery Bounty and Turbo KO tournaments for players who like bounties,

•           and satellites that let players win entry into bigger events for a fraction of the cost.

The €600 Main Event is the headline tournament at the 2026 BPT stops, alongside satellites and a range of side events.

The BPT Main Event Explained

Detail2026 BPT Main Event (Cannes)
Buy-in€600
Goes to prize pool€520
Fee€80
Starting stack50,000 chips
FormatNo-Limit Hold’em
Starting flightsDay 1A and Day 1B
ThenDay 2 and final day

Structures can change from stop to stop. In 2025, for example, the Toulouse Main Event had three starting days and 40-minute levels. Always check the structure sheet for your specific stop.

How big are BPT Main Event prize pools?

Results vary a lot by city. Here’s how recent Main Events compare:

StopEntriesPrize poolWinner’s prize
Deauville (Oct 2025)918—€74,606
Deauville (Oct 2024)727—€61,658
Toulouse (Jul 2025)327€163,238€31,528
Toulouse (Jul 2024)297€148,262€30,202
Cannes (2024)155€77,376—

Recent Deauville Main Events have attracted substantially larger fields than the Toulouse and Cannes examples listed above.

BPT Buy-Ins and What You’re Really Paying

Every BPT buy-in is split into a prize-pool part and a fee. Bounty events add a third part. Here’s how the Cannes 2026 fees compare:

EventBuy-inFeeFee as % of buy-in
Masters 8-Max€1,000€10010.0%
Main Event€600€8013.3%
Fivebet Mystery Bounty€300€4013.3%
Mega Satellite (package)€200€3015.0%
Masters Satellite€150€2516.7%
Turbo KO€150€2516.7%
Main Event Satellite€100€2020.0%

The pattern is clear. Cheaper events carry a higher fee percentage. Satellites save you money up front, but you pay a higher share in fees. That’s fine if you win your seat on the first try. It gets expensive if you need three or four attempts.

BPT Satellites: How They Work

BPT satellites are the cheapest way into the Main Event and Masters.

Mega Satellite (€200): At Cannes, this awards a €1,600 package covering both the €600 Main Event and the €1,000 Masters 8-Max. That’s eight times the buy-in.

“Win Your Seat @95k” satellites (€100): Players start with 12,000 chips. Barrière lists these as “Win Your Seat @95k” satellites. Check the official tournament rules or the tournament desk for the exact qualification and payout conditions.

Satellite strategy tip: In a satellite, every seat is worth the same. Once you’re close to a seat, you don’t need to build a big stack. Folding marginal hands near the bubble is often the right play.

BPT Tournament Formats

•           Main Event: The €600 headline tournament at every 2026 stop.

•           Masters 8-Max: €1,000 buy-in, eight players per table. More hands per hour and stronger fields.

•           BPT Cup and Little BPT: Lower buy-in side events. Little BPT has run at €250 + €35 in past seasons.

•           Mystery Bounty: Part of every buy-in goes into hidden bounty prizes. When you knock someone out late in the event, you draw a random bounty.

•           Turbo KO: Fast blind levels (12 minutes at Cannes) with a bounty on every player.

How to Play the Barrière Poker Tour

1.         Pick your stop. Use the schedule above.

2.         Check the official festival schedule on the Casinos Barrière website for that city.

3.         Choose your event. Main Event, side event or a satellite.

4.         Check the buy-in, structure and late registration rules. Each event page lists the starting stack and level length.

5.         Register through the casino’s official tournament page (“Infos & Inscriptions”) or at the tournament desk.

6.         Bring valid photo ID. French casinos require ID for entry, and players must be 18 or older.

BPT Tournament Strategy Tips

•           Use the deep stack. 50,000 chips with 35–45 minute levels gives you time. There’s no need to gamble early.

•           Adjust for bounties. In Mystery Bounty and Turbo KO events, calling wider against short stacks is often correct because of the bounty value.

•           Play tight on satellite bubbles. Survival matters more than chips.

•           Respect ICM at the final table. Pay jumps in a €600 event are big relative to the buy-in. Avoid marginal all-ins when shorter stacks are about to bust.

•           Watch live tells and timing. Recreational players at BPT stops often show their hand strength through bet sizing and speed.

A Short History of the BPT

Groupe Barrière traces its roots to Deauville in 1912. The Barrière Poker Tour itself has been running for well over a decade. In the early 2010s, BPT Main Events cost €1,500 and often included WSOP Europe packages in the prize pool. Today’s €600 Main Event format makes the tour much more accessible to recreational players.

The tour has also produced a small club of repeat champions. Nicolas Ribeiro, Benjamin Hammann and Omar Lakhdari are the only players to have won two BPT Main Events.
