It’s been a busy October. I’ve been grinding the WSOP Circuit at Turning Stone, and after today’s PLO/NL event I’m heading back home to New Jersey for the $200,000 Guaranteed Pure Grind Series at the Borgata in Atlantic City. I’ll be playing the Saturday day flight, Day 1G, on October 24 at 11:15 AM.

What “1 in 10” means: In a Survivor event, roughly one in every ten players wins an equal prize, such as $1,500 or $2,000, instead of the usual top-heavy payouts.

This year’s Pure Grind Series is the Borgata Black Chip Bounty Edition. On top of the $200K guaranteed prize pool, there’s a bounty on players, so every knockout earns you something along the way.

What Are Flights, in Plain Terms?
- Several Day 1s. Instead of everyone starting at once, the field is spread across eight starting sessions.
- Pick the one that fits. You play the flight that works with your schedule. Saturday’s 11:15 AM flight works best for me.
- Survivors move on. Players who finish their flight with chips bag them up and advance to Day 2.
- One prize pool. On Sunday, survivors from every flight combine and play for the $200K guarantee.
Why I’m Playing the Saturday Day Flight
I’ll be coming straight off the WSOP Circuit, so timing matters. Day 1G gives me the chance to get back to New Jersey, reset, and play a full-speed structure instead of the Saturday night turbo.
It’s also one of the last chances to get in, and late flights usually draw the biggest fields. That means more chips in play, more bounties on the table, and only one night’s rest before Day 2 on Sunday.

Right after the Pure Grind, the Borgata’s October Mini Grind Series runs from October 29 to November 1, giving players one more weekend of action before the Fall Poker Open begins.
The Big One: Borgata Fall Poker Open (Nov 4–17)
November is the Borgata’s biggest month of the fall. The schedule combines three series into one over two weeks: the Fall Poker Open itself, with 26 events from November 4 to 17; the 11-event Chainsaw Mixed Series of Poker from November 4 to 12; and the 7-event Bar Poker Open from November 12 to 16. Across the festival, there’s $4,000,000 in guaranteed prize money.

Event #3: Mini Main Event, $500,000 Guaranteed
At just $350, the Mini Main is the most affordable way into the Fall Poker Open. It starts with 30,000 chips and 20-minute levels, and Day 1 flights run almost every day from November 4 to 16, with Day 2 on Tuesday, November 17 at 12 PM.
Event #12: Fall Half-A-Milly Almighty, $500,000 Guaranteed
This $600 event gives every player a 100,000-chip starting stack. Day 1 flights run November 9 to 11, Day 2 is on November 12, and Day 3 is on November 13.
Event #22: Fall Open Championship, $1,000,000 Guaranteed
The main event of the festival. The $2,700 buy-in comes with a 35,000-chip starting stack and 60-minute levels.

Conclusion
It’s been a strong October so far, with a 17th of 158 finish in the WSOP Circuit PLO8 at Turning Stone. After today’s PLO/NL event, I’m heading home to New Jersey for the $350, $200,000 guaranteed Pure Grind Series, Black Chip Bounty Edition, at the Borgata.
And the action doesn’t stop there. The Mini Grind closes out October, and November brings the Borgata Fall Poker Open with its $1M Kick Off, $500K Mini Main, $500K Half-A-Milly and $1M Fall Open Championship.
