WPT Seoul 2026 Main Event: Complete Guide to the KRW 1 Billion GTD Inspire Championship

On this page
The WPT Seoul 2026 Main Event, officially the WPT Seoul Inspire Championship, started with Day 1A on Thursday, November 5, at INSPIRE Entertainment Resort in Incheon, South Korea. It carries a KRW 1 billion guarantee, and the champion will be crowned on Monday, November 9.
This is the World Poker Tour’s first-ever stop at INSPIRE. The tournament is played in a brand-new room, the 70-table YY Poker Club on the resort’s second floor. The festival opened on October 30, so by the time the Championship began, the room had already crowned close to 20 champions. The first of them was Japan’s Daisuke Nagano, who won the opening Superstack.
Maybe you’re planning to fly in for a late flight, or maybe you’re following from Singapore, Shanghai or Tokyo. Either way, this guide covers everything you need to know.

KRW 1 Billion Guarantee Explained: How Many Entries Are Needed?
A billion won sounds enormous, and it is a serious number for an event that costs under US$1,500. The more useful question for a player is: how many entries does it take to cover the KRW 1 billion GTD?
| Calculation | Figure |
| Guarantee | KRW 1,000,000,000 |
| Prize pool share per entry | KRW 1,575,000 |
| Entries needed to cover the guarantee | ≈ 635 |
| Places paid at 635 entries (12.5%) | ≈ 79 |
If the four Day 1 flights together draw fewer than about 635 entries, the organisers pay the difference. That gap is called “overlay,” and it adds value for every player in the field. If more players enter, the prize pool grows.
How realistic is 635? The festival’s earlier events give a good read:
| Event | Buy-in (KRW) | Entries | Prize Pool (KRW) | Winner |
| #6 Championship Warm Up (100M GTD) | 700,000 | 353 | 213,494,400 | Ryoichi Katsumata |
| #11 Mystery Bounty | 1,000,000 | 258 | 222,912,000 | Hayato Takahashi |
| #12 Freezeout | 500,000 | 117 | 50,544,000 | Kazuki Hane |
| #1 Inspire Superstack | 600,000 | 73 | 37,843,200 | Daisuke Nagano |
| #19 Monster Stack | 1,000,000 | 65 | 56,160,000 | Gary Moon |
The Warm Up more than doubled its guarantee, which is a strong sign. Still, the Championship needs about 1.8 times the Warm Up’s turnout at 2.5 times the price. Four flights, unlimited re-entry and two flights on Saturday are designed to close that gap, but the guarantee is not certain to be covered.
If you’re undecided, watch the Day 1A and 1B entry totals. Low numbers on those days suggest Saturday’s flights could carry overlay.
WPT Seoul 2026 Main Event Schedule and Day 1 Flights
There are four starting flights, and every flight begins with the same 40,000 chips. All times are Korea Standard Time (KST, UTC+9), which is one hour ahead of Singapore, Beijing and Hong Kong.
| Day | Date | Start Time (KST) | Registration Closes |
| Day 1A | Thursday, Nov 5 | 11:30 AM | Level 10 (≈ 7:00 PM) |
| Day 1B | Friday, Nov 6 | 11:30 AM | Level 10 (≈ 7:00 PM) |
| Day 1C | Saturday, Nov 7 | 11:30 AM | Level 10 (≈ 6:30 PM) |
| Day 1D | Saturday, Nov 7 | 6:00 PM | Level 10 (≈ 9:20 PM) |
| Day 2 | Sunday, Nov 8 | 11:30 AM | Closed |
| Final Day | Monday, Nov 9 | 11:30 AM | Closed |
Each Day 1 flight plays down to the money, which many players overlook. If you survive your flight, you have already secured a cash before Day 2 starts. Best stack forward applies: if you bag chips in more than one flight, only your biggest stack moves on, and the extra bag pays a minimum cash.
WPT Seoul Inspire Championship Structure and Blind Levels
The WPT Seoul Inspire Championship structure gives players plenty of room to play. Here is how your 40,000 starting stack holds up through registration:
| Level | Blinds | Big Blind Ante | Stack in Big Blinds (40,000 chips) |
| 1 | 100 / 200 | 200 | 200 BB |
| 3 | 200 / 400 | 400 | 100 BB |
| 5 | 300 / 600 | 600 | ≈ 67 BB |
| 7 | 500 / 1,000 | 1,000 | 40 BB |
| 10 (registration closes) | 1,000 / 2,000 | 2,000 | 20 BB |
| 15 (action clock starts after) | 3,000 / 6,000 | 6,000 | ≈ 7 BB |
That is the real trade-off. Registering at the start gives you about six hours of deep-stacked poker, where skill makes the most difference. Registering late saves time, but your first few hands become mostly all-in-or-fold decisions. For newer players, starting early is almost always the better choice.
| Rule | Details |
| Ante format | Big blind ante, equal to the big blind |
| Action clock | Starts at the end of Level 15; time-extension chips carry over |
| Breaks | 15 minutes every 3 levels (Day 1), every 2 levels (Day 2 onward) |
| Table size | 9-handed Day 1; 8-handed Day 2 where space allows; 9-handed final table |
| Day 2 onward | 60-minute levels until heads-up, then 30-minute levels |
| Paperwork | Players Rewards card and signed WPT Player Release Form required |
The official structure sheet runs to Level 34 (250,000/500,000), so there is plenty of play left even on the final day.
Daisuke Nagano Wins the WPT Seoul Superstack
The first trophy of WPT Seoul went to Japan’s Daisuke Nagano. On opening day, October 30, he won Event #1, the Inspire Superstack.
| Detail | Information |
| Event | #1 Inspire Superstack (No-Limit Hold’em) |
| Date | October 30, 2026 |
| Buy-in | KRW 600,000 |
| Entries | 73 |
| Prize pool | KRW 37,843,200 |
| Winner | Daisuke Nagano (Japan) |
| Prize | KRW 10,973,200 (≈ US$7,500) |
The event ended with a three-way all-in, where Nagano held ace-king and needed an ace. He found one. This is not his first Asian title this year: he also won a Super Hyper Turbo at APT Taipei in April.
Nagano’s win set the tone for the week. Japanese players have dominated the side events since:
| Event | Winner | Prize (KRW) |
| #11 Mystery Bounty | Hayato Takahashi | 52,680,000 |
| #6 Championship Warm Up | Ryoichi Katsumata | 42,000,000 |
| #8 Mini High Roller Warm Up | Fumito Murayama | 18,170,000 |
| #12 Freezeout | Kazuki Hane | 13,554,000 |
| #1 Inspire Superstack | Daisuke Nagano | 10,973,200 |
| #22 Freezeout | Kazuma Okamoto | 9,302,000 |
Main Event players should expect strong, well-prepared regulars from Japan, along with a growing number of players from China, Vietnam and across Asia.
The practical read on WPT Seoul so far: fields are mid-sized, the structures favour skilled play, and the travelling regulars are good. Come prepared, not in holiday mode.
How to Qualify via WPT Global Satellites for WPT Seoul
WPT Global satellites gave online players a route into the WPT Seoul 2026 Main Event starting from just US$1.10. The online window ran from mid-August to October 25, so it is now closed. It’s still worth understanding, because WPT runs a similar satellite ladder for most of its stops.
The WPT Global Satellite Ladder
| Step | Buy-in | When | Prize |
| 1. Step satellite | US$1.10 | Regularly | Seat in the next step |
| 2. Satellite | US$8.80 | Daily | Seat in the Sunday qualifier |
| 3. Qualifier | US$88 | Sundays, 12:05 UTC | US$1,500 WPT Seoul package (3 guaranteed weekly) |
What the US$1,500 WPT Seoul Package Included
| Package Item | Details |
| Main Event seat | Day 1A only, November 5 (not transferable to other flights) |
| Expenses | US$250 credited to the WPT Global account |
| VIP access | Nightly VIP Ultra Lounge access |
| Player Party | Entry to the WPT Seoul Player Party |
| Merchandise | Exclusive WPT Seoul merchandise |
| Hotel | Nights in Songdo reported for the first 30 winners |
The package value was fixed in US dollars while the entry was priced in won, so its real value changed with the exchange rate.
For readers in China and Singapore: whether you can play online poker depends on where you live. Before depositing for a future satellite, check that WPT Global accepts players from your country and that online poker is allowed under your local rules.
Live Satellites at INSPIRE
If you missed the online window, live satellites are still running at the venue:
| Date | Satellite | Buy-in | Seats Guaranteed |
| Thursday, Nov 5, 8:30 PM | Win Your Seat (50K stack, 20-sec clock) | KRW 400,000 | 3 |
| Friday, Nov 6, 8:30 PM | Win Your Seat (50K stack, 20-sec clock) | KRW 400,000 | 5 |
Winning one gets you a Main Event seat for about a quarter of the full buy-in.
Tips for Playing the WPT Seoul 2026 Main Event
| Tip | Why It Matters |
| Bring your passport | INSPIRE runs South Korea’s largest foreigner-only casino; Korean nationals generally cannot take part |
| Pick your flight on purpose | Day 1A and 1B leave you another chance if you bust; 1C and 1D are the last chances and usually the busiest |
| Register early in your flight | Deep-stacked play is where skill matters most; a 20 BB late entry removes most of that edge |
| Set a re-entry budget | Re-entry is unlimited, so decide your maximum entries before you sit down, not after a bad beat |
| Have a backup event | Other events run through the final day (see below) |
Backup Events If You Bust
| Event | Date | Buy-in (KRW) | Guarantee |
| #38 Mini Championship | Nov 8 | 700,000 | — |
| #39 High Roller | Nov 8 | 3,500,000 | KRW 150,000,000 |
| #43 Championship Turbo | Nov 9 | 1,800,000 | — |
