What is the Purple Jacket?
The Purple Jacket is poker’s answer to the green jacket at golf’s Masters. Instead of going to the winner of one tournament, it goes to the player with the best overall performance across the entire Poker Masters series. That’s why the Purple Jacket poker title is so prized: it rewards consistency across a week or two of high-stakes events, not one lucky run.

Points systems changed over time, so points aren’t directly comparable between years.
Every Poker Masters champion, year by year
2025 – David Coleman (USA). Coleman won the opening $1 million Showcase and then finished runner-up in the $25,000 finale. Those results were enough to hold off Alex Foxen by 63 points.
2024 – James Collopy (USA). The only champion to win the jacket without winning a single event. Four straight final tables earned him 522 points, ahead of Isaac Haxton.
2023 – Stephen Chidwick (United Kingdom). Chidwick won Event #8 and made three more final tables, including second place in the $50,000 finale. He’s the only British winner so far.
2022 – Sean Winter (USA). Winter cashed only twice, but one was a win in Event #9. He edged Jason Koon by just 17 points in one of the tightest live races.
2021 – Michael Addamo (Australia). The most dominant finish of the modern era. Addamo won the last two events, including the $50,000 finale, and doubled the points of runner-up Nick Petrangelo.
2020 Online PLO Series – Eelis Pärssinen (Finland). In an all Pot-Limit Omaha online series, Pärssinen won by a single point over Andras Nemeth, the closest race in Poker Masters history.
2020 Online – Alexandros Kolonias (Greece). With live poker shut down by the pandemic, the series moved online with 30 events. Kolonias cashed 11 times, the most by any champion.
2019 – Sam Soverel (USA). Soverel made seven final tables in ten events and won the $50,000 Main Event, finishing with almost twice the points of runner-up Kahle Burns.
2018 – Ali Imsirovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The first champion under the points system. Two wins and three final tables gave him a 10-point edge over David Peters, who won that year’s $100,000 Main Event.
2017 – Steffen Sontheimer (Germany). The first Purple Jacket winner. Sontheimer won two events, including the $100,000 Main Event, and earned $2,733,000, still the record for a champion.

What the history tells us
Looking back across the Poker Masters history, a few patterns stand out among the Poker Masters champions.
Consistency beats a single win. Collopy won in 2024 without an event title, and Coleman (2025) and Chidwick (2023) both clinched the jacket while finishing second in the finale. Steady cashes across the series matter as much as one trophy.
Winning the finale isn’t required, but it helps. Only three champions also won the series’ biggest event: Sontheimer (2017), Soverel (2019) and Addamo (2021).
Series earnings reflect the schedule. Recent champions have generally posted lower series earnings than the earliest winners, reflecting changes in event count and buy-in levels. The top event dropped from $100,000 in 2017–2018 to $25,000 in 2024–2025.
Nobody has repeated. Through 2025, no player has won the Purple Jacket more than once. If defending champion David Coleman wins in 2026, he’ll be the first two-time winner; anyone else becomes the 11th different champion.
