Poker Masters Recap: How We Got Here

Sean Winter Wins the $51,000 Finale

Winter won Event #10, the $51,000 finale, for $620,000, beating a field of 31 entries that built a $1,550,000 prize pool. It was his second PGT title of the season.

On the final hand, Winter check-raised with bottom two pair on a queen-six-five flop, then moved all in on the turn. Laskowitz called with top pair, and the river didn’t help him. His runner-up finish was still a career-best live score.

Adrian Mateos Claims the Purple Jacket

Ausmus needed a top-two finish in the finale to overtake Mateos. His fourth-place exit, when his pocket fives lost to Winter’s ace-king, officially crowned Mateos the Poker Masters champion. Mateos won the Purple Jacket and a $25,000 PGT Passport bonus.

Road to the PGT Championship

The season ends with the PGT Championship on January 11–12, 2027, a $500,000 freeroll for the top 40 eligible players on the leaderboard and select Dream Seat winners.

To claim a top-40 seat, players need at least four PGT cashes this season, including one in a PGT-owned event, and must opt in before the final series. If a player doesn’t qualify, their seat passes to the next eligible player.

After the Sprint, PGT Last Chance runs January 4–9 with six final events for players chasing a spot.

Players to Watch

  • Sean Winter: Leader by 380 points and fresh off a $620,000 win
  • Eelis Parssinen: Second place, with only seven cashes all season
  • Jeremy Ausmus: Third place and still hungry after just missing the Purple Jacket
  • Adrian Mateos: Purple Jacket champion with four PGT wins this season
  • Brandon Wilson and Brock Wilson: Both inside the top seven and within striking distance
