Battle of Malta 2027 Goes International: Barcelona, Slovakia and Tallinn Join the Tour

The Battle of Malta is no longer just a Malta festival. In 2027 it becomes a five-stop European tour.

• Casino Barcelona hosts the opener in January.
• Card Casino Samorin near Bratislava returns in June.
• Olympic Park Casino in Tallinn closes the year in December.
• The two traditional stops at Casino Malta stay at the heart of the schedule.

For players, this changes the math on one of Europe’s most popular mid-stakes events. You no longer need to plan a full week in Malta to play a Battle Main Event. Here is everything confirmed so far.

From One Island Festival to a European Tour

The Battle of Malta began in 2012 and grew fast. By 2014 its prize pool passed €1 million for the first time. The same year, it won the European Poker Awards “Event of the Year” in the buy-ins up to €2,000 category.

Since 2022 the festival has run twice a year: a spring edition and a traditionally larger autumn edition. This year’s Battle of Malta drew 5,368 entries. That was not a new record, but the prize pool still went past €2.4 million.

The first test outside Malta came in September 2026 at Card Casino Samorin. The Slovakia Edition drew 1,510 entries and a prize pool of more than €380,000. That result gave the organisers the confidence to turn the brand into a full tour.

The 2026 Autumn Edition at Casino Malta (October 27 to November 4) reaches its final day today, with a €1.5 million guaranteed Main Event. Our earlier coverage of [Battle of Malta 2026 Day 1C and 1D results] shows how deep these fields run.

H2: What This Means for Players

H3: A shorter trip with the same Main Event

The Malta Autumn Edition spreads its Main Event across nine Day 1 flights over more than a week. Barcelona packs four flights into five days and finishes on a Sunday. For players with full-time jobs, that means you can fly in on a Thursday, play two flights if needed, and be home by Monday.

H3: Cheap ways in

Daily €100 live satellites start on January 18. Each one costs a sixth of the Main Event buy-in.

The organisers say online satellite details will follow soon. If you play on club apps, our [ClubGG Poker Review 2026] explains how live-event satellite ladders work in practice.

H3: Side events for smaller bankrolls

The €300 Super Mystery Bounty, €150 Progressive Knockout and €300 Mini Battle give recreational players solid value. You don’t need to risk the full €600 to enjoy the trip.

H3: Practical travel tip

Casino Barcelona sits on the seafront in Port Olímpic, and hotels nearby fill quickly during big festivals. January is low season in Barcelona, so flights are usually cheaper than a spring or autumn trip to Malta. Book accommodation early once the guarantee is announced.

H2: Why the Expansion Makes Sense

Battle of Malta has always sold a simple formula: an affordable €600 buy-in, huge fields and a festival atmosphere. Taking that formula to big poker cities like Barcelona, and to newer markets like Slovakia and Estonia, lets the brand reach players who would never fly to Malta.

The risk is spreading the player pool too thin. The September Slovakia result suggests the brand travels well. Whether Barcelona and Tallinn can match it will be the real test of the 2027 tour. For more live tournament coverage, follow our poker tournament news.
