There’s something about Prague in December. Christmas markets in the Old Town, snow on the rooftops, mulled wine on every corner, and a few thousand poker players packed into the Hilton. EPT Prague has been the last big stop on the European Poker Tour calendar for years, and it’s back again from December 2 to 13, 2026.
This year there’s an extra twist. Back in April, WSOP Europe moved into the very same venue and ran its own €5,300 Main Event. So if you’re wondering how the two festivals really compare, you’re not alone. Here’s the full EPT Prague schedule, last year’s numbers, and a straight comparison with WSOP Europe.

The prize. This is the big one for a lot of players. Win at WSOP Europe and you get a bracelet, the most famous prize in poker. Win at EPT Prague and you get an EPT title, which carries serious weight in Europe and on the PokerStars tour.
The schedule. WSOP Europe is short and focused, with 15 bracelet events. EPT Prague is a full festival with around 65 tournaments, including mixed games, hyper turbos, a Seniors and a Women’s event, and plenty of low buy-ins.
The size. WSOP Europe’s 2026 Main Event was the biggest in its history, more than double EPT Prague’s 2025 field. A €10 million guarantee and GGPoker’s online qualifiers clearly helped.
The timing. WSOP Europe moved from autumn to spring for 2026. EPT Prague keeps its December slot, which means Christmas markets, colder weather and the end-of-year EPT buzz.
Where you qualify. Your online poker site matters. PokerStars players head to EPT Prague; GGPoker players have WSOP Europe.
So which is better? Honestly, it depends on what you want. Chasing a bracelet and a huge field? WSOP Europe. Want a long, varied festival with something for every bankroll and a proper December trip? EPT Prague is hard to beat.
How to qualify for less
• Online: PokerStars runs satellites to EPT events throughout the year.
• Live in Prague: Main Event qualifiers on the schedule cost €600 and €1,160. There are also qualifiers to the High Roller (€1,130) and both Mystery Bounties.
Planning your trip to Prague
• Getting there: fly into Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG). The Hilton Prague is close to the city centre.
• Money: the Czech Republic uses the koruna (CZK), but buy-ins are in euros.
• Weather: expect cold days, often around freezing. Pack warm layers.
• Between sessions: the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square Christmas markets are a great way to unwind.
