Winamax Poker Tournaments 2026: The Complete Guide to Series, Formats, Live Tours & Results

Last Updated on October 6, 2026 by Bala Kumar

Why Winamax tournaments deserve their own guide

Winamax is the biggest online poker room in France and one of the most important tournament brands in Europe. It’s also unusual. Most operators build their tournament calendars around high-stakes regulars. Winamax builds around recreational players: free-to-enter tours, cheap satellites, quirky formats and a lot of humour.

The numbers show the approach works. In 2026, Winamax broke attendance records at both of its flagship live events. Its online Winamax Series guaranteed €35 million in January alone. And this month, GGPoker launched a copy of Winamax’s own Space KO format.

This pillar page brings everything together in one place: the online series calendar, every major format explained simply, the live tours, recent results, upcoming dates and practical strategy. Each section links to a deeper article if you want more detail.

The big takeaway: At a time when many online poker markets are flat, Winamax’s two biggest live events both set records in 2026. Both cost €500 to enter, and most of the players came from free or cheap qualifiers.

Part 1: Winamax online tournament series

Winamax Series

The Winamax Series is the operator’s flagship online festival. It runs several times a year, each edition lasting about 12 days with 300+ tournaments. In 2026 it ran three times:

EditionDatesEventsGuaranteed
January 2026Jan 4–15338€35,000,000
April 2026Apr 5–16352€30,000,000
September 2026Sep 6–17352€30,000,000

The September edition was headlined by a “3 Million Event”. It also featured the recurring Mass Start, Marathon and Master tournaments, each with a Championship version at higher stakes. Buy-ins ranged from €2 to €1,000, so a micro-stakes player and a high-stakes regular can play the same festival.

How to qualify cheaply: Winamax runs “Road to Series” satellites and Expresso Series tickets before each edition. You can turn a few euros into a seat at a much bigger event.

Winamax Islands (summer)

The Winamax Islands is a lighter summer series. The 2026 edition ran from July 26 to August 2 with 137 tournaments and €5 million guaranteed. Buy-ins were capped at €250, and the headline event was a €20 “Paradise Space KO” with €400,000 guaranteed. It has grown every year: 55 events in 2023, 77 in 2024, 111 in 2025 and 137 in 2026.

Weekly and daily tournaments

Outside the series, Winamax’s regular schedule runs every day. There are big Sunday tournaments, daily Space KOs and a constant stream of Expresso games. If you’re new, start with low buy-ins in the daily schedule before committing your bankroll to series events.

Part 2: Winamax tournament formats explained (for beginners)

Winamax has a format for almost every mood. Here’s what each one means, in plain language.

FormatWhat it isBest forBiggest risk
Expresso3-player hyper-turbo sit-and-go with a randomly drawn prize poolShort sessions, lottery-style upsideHigh variance; most games pay a small multiple
Space KOBounty tournament where every knockout bounty gets a random multiplierAggressive players who like actionSwingy; bounties can dwarf normal prize money
Progressive KO (PKO)Half your bounty goes to your own head each time you eliminate someonePlayers who like building pressureOver-calling to chase bounties
Mass Start / Marathon / MasterLarge-field multi-table tournaments with different structures and speedsClassic MTT playersLong sessions, need patience
Freerolls / Sit & Go Starting BlockFree entry tournaments that feed the Winamax Poker TourBeginners and budget playersVery large, loose fields
Satellites (Road to Series)Cheap tournaments that award tickets, not cashBuilding up to bigger eventsPlaying for chips instead of the seat

Expresso: the 3-player sprint

An Expresso is a 3-handed sit-and-go with short stacks and fast blinds. Before the first hand, a random multiplier decides the prize pool. Most of the time it’s a small multiple of the buy-in, but occasionally it’s a huge jackpot. A typical game lasts only a few minutes.

Practical insight: Because stacks are short, push-fold charts matter more than reads. Learn when to go all-in with fewer than 10 big blinds. That one skill does more for your Expresso results than anything else.

Space KO: Winamax’s most copied idea

In a Space KO, every bounty you collect is revealed with a random multiplier. One knockout might pay a small amount, the next many times more. The format has been so popular that on October 5, 2026, GGPoker launched “Ocean KO”, which Pokerfuse described as an adaptation of Winamax’s Space KO, with bounties worth up to 400x (Pokerfuse).

Practical insight: You’re paid in bounties as well as finishing position, so you can call all-ins a little wider when you have the covering stack. But don’t lose your discipline. A random multiplier doesn’t change your equity in the hand itself.

Part 3: Winamax live tournaments

Winamax runs live events as an extension of its online community. They’re known for 6-max Main Events, a festival atmosphere (beer pong, darts and marble races have all been side events) and affordable buy-ins.

Winamax Poker Tour (WiPT): France’s biggest free poker tour

The WiPT is unique. Players qualify online for free through “Sit & Go Starting Block” freerolls, then progress to live regional stages, and the best earn a €500 seat at the Grande Finale. For the 2025–26 season, around 266,000 players entered online, 9,583 played ten live stages, and the Grande Finale drew a record 3,610 entries.

Who can play: The WiPT is a French tour run through Winamax.fr, so you need a French Winamax account. Check the official rules for eligibility.

Winamax Poker Open (WPO)

The WPO started in Dublin in 2010 and has since moved around Europe. Its home is now Casino Grand Cercle in Aix-les-Bains, in the French Alps. The €500 Main Event set a new record in 2026.

The winner story sums up the Winamax model. Archeny started playing for free at local clubs at 18, moved up to low-stakes tournaments, and then beat a field that included Winamax’s sponsored pros. Every player who made Day 2 was guaranteed at least €1,000.

Other Winamax live events

•           Winamax SISMIX: a 6-max mixed festival format, also popular with recreational players.

•           Regional circuits “by Winamax”: in 2026 this included the Circuito Nacional de Poker in Spain (Barcelona, Murcia), the Liga Nacional de Poker in Lisbon, and EuroPoker Circuit stops in France and Spain (PokerNews tour page).

Part 4: How to go from €0 to a live Main Event on Winamax

This is the path most WiPT and WPO players actually take:

1.         Start free. Play the Sit & Go Starting Block freerolls during the qualifying windows (“Tremplins”) for the WiPT stage closest to you.

2.         Win a live stage seat. Qualifiers go to a two-day regional event. Day 1 starts at 11:00 on Saturday and Day 2 at 10:30 on Sunday.

3.         Win a Grande Finale seat. The best players at each stage earn a €500 Grande Finale entry.

4.         Use satellites for everything else. For the WPO or Winamax Series, low-cost satellites and Expresso tickets cost a fraction of the direct buy-in.

Bankroll tip: For MTTs, a common recreational guideline is to risk no more than 1–2% of your poker bankroll on a single tournament buy-in. Satellites and freerolls let you take shots at bigger events without breaking that rule.

Part 5: Strategy tips specific to Winamax tournaments

•           Expect 6-max. Winamax’s live Main Events are 6-handed. You’ll play more hands per orbit, the blinds come around faster and position matters even more. Widen your opening ranges compared to full-ring play.

•           Recreational fields reward value betting. Big Winamax fields are full of players who call too much. Bet your strong hands for value and bluff less than you would against regulars.

•           Bounty math beats bounty excitement. In Space KO and PKO events, think about the bounty as extra pot odds. It isn’t a reason to call off with weak hands.

•           Satellites are about survival. Near the seat bubble, fold almost everything that isn’t a premium. A seat is worth the same whether you finish with 1 chip or 100,000.

•           Use the late registration windows wisely. Arriving late saves time, but starting with fewer big blinds makes your tournament much more push-fold heavy.

It isn’t available in many countries, including the US, the UK and India. Always check whether Winamax is licensed where you live, and only play on legal, regulated sites. If Winamax isn’t available to you, watch for the Space KO-style formats now appearing on other networks.
