APT Online 2026: “hotshane” Conquers a Record National Cup, “traintokiev7” Rides Bounties to PLO Title

The Asian Poker Tour‘s online festival is into its final stretch, and the two titles decided this week show why it has become one of the more interesting series on the calendar. One was a cheap, sprawling, eleven-hour grind where an Austrian regular outlasted more than 3,700 entries. The other was a mid-stakes Pot-Limit Omaha bounty where the money that mattered most never came from the payout ladder at all.

If you only skim the winner’s line, you’ll miss the interesting part. Below are the top-three payouts, the numbers behind them, and what they tell you if you’re planning to play the last few events or the Main Event this weekend.

APT Online 2026 at a Glance

APT Online is the digital arm of the Asian Poker Tour, which turns 20 this year. The 2026 edition runs on Natural8, part of the GG Network, which is why the events also appear in GG-powered lobbies such as GGPoker. The total guarantee is $40 million, a 60% jump from the $25 million offered in 2025.

  • Dates: October 11 – November 2, 2026
  • Platform: Natural8 (GG Network)
  • Total guarantees: $40,000,000 (2025: $25,000,000)
  • Trophy events: 20
  • Buy-in range: about $55 (local-currency events) to $5,000
  • Main Event: $800 buy-in, $5,000,000 GTD, Day 2 on November 1
  • Extra prize for every trophy winner: a $10,000 seat in the APT Championship Main Event in Taipei, November 23–27

That last point matters. Both winners in this report banked cash and also locked up a $10,000 live seat at the APT Championship in Taipei. For a player who entered Event #15 for $55, the seat is worth more than half of the cash prize itself.

The bigger question over the series is turnout versus guarantees. Earlier coverage noted that the first eight trophy events generated about $5.74 million. That was only 6.5% more than the same events in 2025, while guarantees grew far faster. This is good news for players. When guarantees rise faster than fields, overlays become more likely, and an overlay is free money for the people who show up.

Event #15: $55 Philippines National Cup – Deepstack Bounty

The Philippines National Cup is familiar to anyone who follows APT live stops in Manila, where it traditionally opens the festival. The online version far outgrew its live counterpart. It set a new attendance record of 3,707 entries and built a prize pool of PHP 11,936,540 (about $187,400), beating its guarantee by more than 19%.

Philippines National Cup, online vs live:

  • APT Manila Classic 2025 (live): 398 entries, about PHP 4,000,000
  • APT Manila 2024 (live): 726 entries, PHP 7,436,563
  • APT Online 2026, Event #15: 3,707 entries, PHP 11,936,540

For context, the largest live APT National Cup ever, at APT Taipei 2026, drew 2,940 entries.

Every elimination paid a progressive bounty starting at PHP 800 (about $12.60). The top 408 players reached the money, with a minimum cash of PHP 3,788.21 (about $59). After nearly eleven hours, Austria’s “hotshane” closed it out. He took PHP 586,251 (about $9,213) from the regular prize pool and another PHP 430,535.56 (about $6,766) in bounties. His total was PHP 1,016,786.56 (about $15,978).

Event #15, top three:

  1. hotshane (Austria): PHP 1,016,786.56 (about $15,978)
  2. Fanhaoming (China): PHP 714,510 (about $11,228)
  3. Leonidiks (Ukraine): PHP 477,482 (about $7,503)

What the numbers say

  • 290 times the buy-in. hotshane turned $55 into roughly $15,978. Add the $10,000 APT Championship seat and the effective return is far higher.
  • Bounties were 42% of his haul. In a progressive knockout, the eventual winner usually holds the biggest bounty by the end, because every knockout grows it.
  • About 11% of the field got paid, but the min cash barely covered the buy-in. In big-field bounty events, the realistic profit comes from collecting heads along the way, not from sneaking into the money.
  • Eleven hours for $55. Cheap doesn’t mean quick. If you’re entering a deepstack event with thousands of players, plan for a full session and get decent sleep the night before.

Event #16: $525 Masters Omaha – PLO Bounty

The Omaha event attracted 394 entrants against a $200,000 guarantee. Roughly $500 of each $525 entry goes into prize money and bounties, so that field lands very close to the guarantee line. Organisers were likely watching registration closely right up to the final minutes. Every eliminated opponent paid a progressive bounty of at least $125. The top 46 players made the money, and the minimum cash was $572.91.

After seven and a half hours, it came down to Argentina’s “traintokiev7” and China’s “Jasper-1@”. The pair struck a deal, and the title went to traintokiev7. His regular prize of $15,113.81 was almost identical to the runner-up’s. The $21,089.87 in bounties he had collected along the way lifted his total to $36,203.68.

Event #16, top three:

  1. traintokiev7 (Argentina): $15,113.81 prize + $21,089.87 bounties = $36,203.68
  2. Jasper-1@ (China): $15,113.60 prize + $3,156.25 bounties = $18,269.85
  3. DStrangelove (Hungary): $11,453.97 prize + $5,332.00 bounties = $16,785.97

Why this result is a lesson in bounty strategy

Start with the prize money. First and second are separated by 21 cents, because the deal split the remaining payouts evenly. Now look at the bounties. traintokiev7 earned nearly seven times more in bounties than Jasper-1@, and that alone is why he walked away with almost double the money. Bounties made up 58% of his total.

Third place tells a similar story. “DStrangelove” finished just $1,484 behind the runner-up overall, despite a payout gap of more than $3,600, because he had collected more heads than the player who beat him.

For beginners, here’s the plain explanation. In a progressive bounty, part of every knockout is paid to you in cash immediately. The rest is added to the bounty on your own head. That makes the chip leader both the most dangerous player at the table and the most valuable one to bust. In Omaha, hands run closer in equity and all-ins happen constantly, so this snowball effect is even stronger.

Practical Takeaways Before the Final Weekend

  • Call wider when a bounty is on the line. The bounty is extra money in the pot, so you can call an all-in with a weaker hand when you cover the player. Don’t take that too far against a big stack who covers you.
  • Watch who covers whom. You can only win a bounty from a player whose stack you cover. Before calling, check the stack sizes, not just your cards.
  • Know what you’re agreeing to in a deal. GG Network deals split the remaining prize money, but bounties you’ve already won stay yours. A player with a big bounty collection is in a stronger position at the deal table than the chip counts suggest.
  • Mind the currency. Country-specific events like the Philippines National Cup are priced in local currency, so your payout in dollars or euros depends on the exchange rate on the day.
  • Consider the Main Event overlay angle. Guarantees outpaced turnout earlier in the series, so the $800, $5 million guaranteed Main Event is worth a close look. Natural8 satellites offer a cheaper way in if $800 is outside your bankroll.

The series ends on November 2. Schedules, satellites and the Main Event lobby are on Natural8, and details for the APT Championship in Taipei are on the official Asian Poker Tour website. We’ll cover the Main Event result as soon as the final table wraps.
