PNOC 2026: User1912 Comes Back From 3-to-1 Down to Win the $80K Mystery Opening Event

On this page
Heads-up play began with User1912 holding 21 big blinds against Lurich28’s 70. A comeback from there takes good cards at the right moments and a calm head. The Moldovan player had both, winning the $109 Poker Mystery Opening Event for $7,614 on October 19.
It was the flagship early event of the 2026 Poker Online Championship (PNOC) on 888poker. It also turned out to be one of the best-value tournaments of the series so far.

The Overlay Nobody Should Ignore
Here’s the number that matters most for regular players. With the usual split of a 109buy-in(100 to the prize pool, $9 fee), 730 entries generate about $73,000. The guarantee was $80,000, so 888poker added roughly $7,000 of its own money. That gap is called an overlay.
Overlays are the closest thing tournament poker has to free money. Every entrant played for about 9.6% more than the field paid in. Two smaller PNOC events also missed their guarantees by a little: Event #04 by about $520 and Event #09 by about $360. Every other completed event met or beat its guarantee.
Practical takeaway: keep an eye on late registration in guaranteed events with soft fields. If an event looks likely to fall short, every entry is worth more than its buy-in.
Final Table Results

| 1 | User1912 | Moldova | $6,536 | $1,078 | $7,614 |
| 2 | Lurich28 | Brazil | $4,980 | $2,351 | $7,331 |
| 3 | TheHueyLewis | Brazil | $3,580 | $323 | $3,903 |
| 4 | otteotteotte | Denmark | $2,424 | $2,372 | $4,796 |
| 5 | Clay_Born | Sweden | $1,604 | $772 | $2,376 |
| 6 | Nik32112 | Germany | $1,188 | $230 | $1,418 |
| 7 | C3H5NO33 | ā | $840 | $4,003 | $4,843 |
| 8 | MachadadaRS | Brazil | $640 | $1,154 | $1,794 |
Brazil placed three players at the final table, more than any other country. Players came from five nations in total, which shows how global these online series have become.
Mystery Bounties: Why Seventh Place Beat Third
The most interesting line in the results is seventh place. C3H5NO33 took just $840 in prize money but $4,003 in bounties. That total of $4,843 was more than TheHueyLewis earned for finishing third.
In a mystery bounty tournament, the bounty for each knockout is hidden until it is won. It might be small or it might be a jackpot, and luck decides which. That changes how you should play:
- Busting players matters more than usual. Each knockout is a lottery ticket, and one big draw can be worth more than several pay jumps.
- Finishing high is no longer the only goal. Fourth-place otteotteotte made almost as much from bounties (2,372)asfromprizemoney(2,424).
- Results swing more. The winner took only $1,078 in bounties, less than four other finalists.
If you’re new to the format, think of it as two games at once. One is a normal tournament for prize money; the other is a bounty hunt where you can’t see the bounty values.
How the Final Table Played Out
Early trouble for the eventual winner. User1912 nearly went out before heads-up, losing a big pot with pocket sixes against TheHueyLewis’s pocket queens. Short stacks often fold their way up the pay ladder after a hit like that. User1912 kept looking for spots to get back in.
Eliminations come quickly.
- MachadadaRS (8th) missed a flush draw against Clay_Born’s pocket kings and busted on the next hand.
- C3H5NO33 (7th) got ace-ten in against TheHueyLewis’s pocket sixes, and a set on the flop ended it.
- Nik32112 (6th) lost with jack-seven to otteotteotte’s king-eight.
- Clay_Born (5th) shoved queen-four, and TheHueyLewis called with king-ten, flopping three tens.
The aces that changed everything. With four left, User1912 found pocket aces against otteotteotte’s pocket eights, and flopped a set to win a huge pot. A few hands later, otteotteotte’s ace-ten lost to Lurich28’s ace-five when a five came on the river, and the Dane went out in fourth.
Down to two. TheHueyLewis’s queen-jack lost to Lurich28’s jack-eight two pair, setting up heads-up with Lurich28 holding a commanding lead.
Heads-Up: Lucky Spots, Bold Shoves and a Pair of Deuces
Starting with roughly 30% of the chips, User1912 needed some luck, and got it. Holding ace-king against queen-jack, they were behind after the flop. Kings landed on both the turn and the river.
The key moment came when Lurich28 re-raised all-in with ace-six against User1912’s ace-king. Was ace-six too aggressive? Heads-up, ace-six is a strong hand, and a re-raise all-in is a normal play with a big stack. The risk is running into a bigger ace, which is exactly what happened. Ace-king beats ace-six about 70% of the time, so that single pot made the match close again. The lead then changed hands several times.
The last hand was a classic heads-up all-in. Lurich28, down to about 7 big blinds, shoved queen-jack. User1912 called with pocket deuces and held on a ten-high board.
Lesson for players: heads-up, even a small pair like deuces is a favourite against two unpaired cards like queen-jack. It is usually about a 52ā53% favourite, so calling a short-stack shove with it is the right play.
